Elected as Fourth Ward Commissioner in 2008, his term will expire June 30, 2012. In his first term, Mr. Thomas currently serves as Chair of the Traffic & Safety Committee and as the Vice Chair of the Finance Committee. He also serves as Council Liaison for the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Upon graduation from the University of Maryland with a BS degree in Business Administration, he worked in Washington, DC, Annapolis, and Salisbury in mortgage banking and lending. Mr. Thomas returned to his home town in 1992 and has become very involved in the community. He is an Agent/Partner of Choptank Real Estate, President of the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, and is President of Sailwinds Park, Inc. and Cambridge Elks Lodge #1272. Additionally, he is a director for Camp Thendara Management Board, and the Maryland 4-H Foundation. Mr. Thomas served as president of the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce in 2000 and on the Cambridge Main Street board until April 2009. He and his wife have two children.
